Luis Guardado
I enjoy witnessing the excitement clients feel when they see our 3D renderings—and how their excitement grows as the designs come to fruition.
Luis Guardado has been enraptured by architecture and design since his childhood, when he would tag along to construction jobs with his father, who worked in the field. Now, Luis is often the designer in charge of conducting site visits and developing 3D models based on existing conditions.
Since joining Spacesmith in 2019, he has implemented his understanding of building codes and technical details for several residences and commercial spaces with diverse needs. Clients appreciate his ability to craft realistic renderings of proposed designs, especially for adaptive reuse projects for which the end result can be difficult to visualize.
For Talbott & Arding, a gourmet meat and cheese purveyor housed within a former warehouse, Luis helped design two distinct spaces: a state-of-the-art kitchen and a high-end retail space, with glass partitions that grant customers a peak into how their products are made. The final space reflects his unique ability to produce complex details that appear simple and streamlined, a challenging feat.
Luis earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As co-leader for Spacesmith’s Building Science & Technology committee, he optimizes the firm’s construction standards for sustainability and code compliance.
