I’m driven by design decisions that positively impact people, even when those decisions aren’t necessarily registered by the naked eye.
As a recent graduate with a degree in accounting, Jonathan Ting took a trip to Germany. While there, he visited the library at Freie Universität Berlin and was struck by its natural light, organic forms, and sustainability features. After that, libraries became a staple in his travel itineraries. The more he explored, the more he appreciated not just their functional purpose but their ability to exemplify intentional, sustainable design. This awe led to a career change.
Since graduating with a Master of Fine Arts in interior design from the New York School of Interior Design, Ting has gained experience working on multifamily affordable housing, single-family residential, and hospitality projects around the world. He is passionate about making healthy, sustainable spaces more accessible and considers both factors at every step in the design process.
In his free time, Jonathan hikes the trails surrounding New York City. This pastime has deepened his appreciation for natural elements and encouraged him to integrate them into his designs, all while focusing on sustainability to advocate for their preservation in nature. He also practices film photography, using buildings as his main subject, which helps him decipher connections between a building’s form and materiality and its surrounding environment.
