Alexandra Leitch
As designers, we need to create inclusive spaces that are driven by diversity and reflect the surrounding cultural and environmental contexts.
While pursuing her Bachelor of Architecture degree at Miami University, Alex Leitch witnessed firsthand the unique risks that coastal communities face in terms of climate change. These conditions shaped much of her education and her subsequent interest in sustainable design, which she applies to all her work.
Alex believes that beautiful interiors should be accessible to all and takes this into consideration throughout all phases of the design process. Clients appreciate her strong graphics skills, which she honed while working at an international non-profit organization, and her ability to communicate concepts both visually and verbally.
Prior to joining Spacesmith, Alex gained experience at a Washington, D.C.-based firm specializing in single- and multi-family residential projects. Through designing such intimate spaces, she developed a respect for furniture and finishes—specifically their ability to communicate inclusivity, uplift communities, and improve people’s quality of life. She expresses her complementary interests in the environmental and emotional impacts of architecture through calming palettes that promote comfort and wellbeing while highlighting sustainable materials.
