NYS Department of Health and Public Services Commission for New York State Office of General Services

After 9/11 New York State made a renewed commitment to Downtown Manhattan. As part of this commitment, the Department of Health and the Public Services Commission were relocated from Midtown to lower Manhattan on four expansive floors in the former central post office building at 90 Church Street. The project, 320,000 square feet, not only provided a much needed boost to downtown; it set a new standard for state office space in New York City. Spacesmith went on to complete over one million square feet of relocations and renovations as planning and design architect for New York State Office of General Services over a three year period, significantly improving the work environment for countless state employees and visitors.
