Reisenbach Charter School
The Reisenbach Charter School was one of the very first Harlem based charter schools and quickly became a model facility for similar learning centers. The school for 500 students in grades K-4, was designed to reflect the charter's mission to 'inspire children to achieve excellence.' The bold and brightly colored reception area promotes the school's identity/brand and celebrates the learning experience by showcasing students' work. A band dedicated to students work continues along the corridors inspiring the students to keep up the good work on a daily basis. Finishes and materials were selected to lift the spirits and to survive the day to day wear and tear. The school, located within an existing residential building, was carefully designed to meet stringent codes for educational facilities and to control costs.
